Position Overview
Employment Status: PRN
Role Summary:
A registered nurse is responsible for executing the nursing process for each assigned patient or resident, ranging from infancy to geriatrics, based on the scope of care within the nursing department. This role entails coordinating both direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and the policies and procedures established by Baptist Health emergency departments. Responsibilities will align with the educational background and demonstrated competencies of the individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Below is a summary of the primary functions associated with this position. Additional duties, both major and minor, may be required, and specific responsibilities may evolve over time.
- Assess patient/resident clinical conditions
- Formulate a comprehensive care plan
- Execute and supervise the nursing care plan implementation
- Assess the effectiveness of care provided
- Communicate and confirm patient care information
- Participate in Staff Meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN License in Kentucky is mandatory
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are necessary
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting is essential
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent Nursing Certification is required, with specific exceptions noted
- New Graduate Nurses with an Associate degree must commit to obtaining a BSN within a specified timeframe
- RNs with less than 5 years of nursing experience are required to enroll in a BSN program within a year of hire
- RNs with 5 or more years of experience must either obtain a BSN or a Nursing Certification within a year of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred
