Behavioral Health Activity Therapist

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Activity Therapist to join our team at MCI-Norfolk. As a key member of our behavioral health team, you will provide purposeful, goal-oriented activities that teach and facilitate skills in assertiveness, independent living, interpersonal and social skills, and promoting individualized interest and pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop treatment curriculums in conjunction with the Unit Coordinator.
  • Facilitate activity-based contacts in individual and group settings, and maintain data collection and tracking.
  • Conduct non-clinical therapeutic interventions in treatment units and in conjunction with Qualified Mental Health Professionals.
  • Assist clients in building social skills in the general population that will enhance overall wellbeing.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Related Field.
  • BLS certification.
  • Fluency in English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams, and ability to utilize an Electronic Health Record.
  • Supportive team member who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
