We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at Wake County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing direct instructional programs for students with special needs, as well as monitoring and evaluating programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement IEPs: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that they meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide Specially Designed Instruction: Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities, using a variety of teaching methods and strategies to meet their individual needs.
- Monitor Student Progress: Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure that students are meeting their IEP goals.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Collaborate with colleagues, including general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff, to ensure that students receive a comprehensive and coordinated education.
- Communicate with Parents: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and to involve them in the educational process.
- Education and Certification: Hold a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a North Carolina Professional Educators License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area.
- Experience and Skills: Have experience working with students with special needs and possess strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Certifications and Training: Hold certifications in First Aid and CPR, as well as Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI).
The successful candidate will be able to work in a classroom and office environment, and will be required to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. The physical demands of this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
