Position Overview:
The role of the Community Mortgage Consultant is crucial in bridging the gap between the community and various mortgage programs aimed at assisting low to moderate income individuals. This position focuses on enhancing the availability of mortgage loans through strategic partnerships and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives to expand mortgage loan offerings for Low-To-Moderate Income (LMI) borrowers by acting as the expert for Truist's Affordable Housing product line and Down Payment Assistance programs.
- Implement a comprehensive action plan aligned with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to position Truist as a leader in Affordable Housing Lending, fostering relationships with governmental bodies and participating in housing associations to boost productivity in the LMI/CRA lending sector.
- Collaborate with community organizations, faith-based groups, and non-profits to provide guidance and training on homeownership, credit counseling, and the mortgage lending process.
- Promote the Truist referral system within the LMI/CRA Strategy, working closely with partners on initiatives that support LMI mortgage clients and actively participating in relevant committees and boards.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of Truist's Mortgage Strategies, Policies, and Procedures, as well as the guidelines set by secondary market investors.
- Ensure full compliance with all Truist policies and regulations, particularly those mandated by State and Federal laws.
- Support the Mortgage Loan Fulfillment team by following up on necessary documentation with clients, attorneys, or appraisers as identified through quality control or post-closing reviews.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years in residential mortgage lending sales or equivalent experience with government or non-profit housing agencies.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Mortgage Lending Process.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications.
- Compliance with the SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act within 30 days of employment, including necessary background checks.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Thorough knowledge of the local market.
- Three or more years of experience in mortgage lending sales or a similar role.
- Recognition through sales awards and leadership roles.
Working Conditions:
Ability to perform various physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of using standard office equipment and able to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 75% as needed.
