Position Overview:
RTI International is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Research Chemical Engineer to enhance our Direct Air Capture (DAC) research initiatives at our headquarters. Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing research programs focused on Direct Air Capture (DAC) and Carbon Management. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting experimental development, testing, and showcasing of innovative DAC and/or Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies.
- Performing process simulations and conducting assessments related to cost, life cycle, and social impacts of DAC and/or CCUS value chains.
- Designing and optimizing reactors using both phenomenological and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methodologies.
- Exhibiting strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to interpret and analyze experimental and simulation data.
- Initiating and developing funded research projects in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in the field of Carbon Dioxide Removal.
- Collaborating effectively within interdisciplinary teams that include both experimentalists and modelers.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A PhD in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related fields, with a focus on reactor and process design.
- A strong passion for research in Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), CCUS, and decarbonization.
- Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary research and contributing to funded research initiatives.
- Proven track record in planning, sourcing, and developing new research projects.
- Strong writing skills for preparing proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
- An understanding of the operational requirements necessary for successful research project management.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
