Position Description

Our institution is creating a pool of qualified instructors for potential openings.

We are recognized as one of the leading law schools in the United States, offering rigorous, engaging, and hands-on programs. We expect our instructors to demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and intellectual diversity.

The J.D. and LL.M. programs feature a diverse and evolving curriculum, offering hundreds of courses, including numerous options in our highly regarded Law and Technology, Business Law, International Law, Environmental Law, and Social Justice programs.

This pool includes courses in litigation and transactional lawyering skills, such as negotiation, pre-trial practice, civil trial practice, criminal trial practice, appellate advocacy, legal writing, drafting, legal research, alternative dispute resolution, oral advocacy, mediation, and other related professional practice education. These courses are taught through experiential methods, utilizing extensive simulations, video, and other 'learning by doing' pedagogies. Course offerings encompass both lecture courses and experiential center courses.

Applicants should apply to the specialized pool that corresponds with the subject matter of the course they wish to teach. We will only consider candidates if the subject matter of their proposed course aligns with the pool to which they apply.

Instructors for lecture courses are appointed under the Instructor title; instructors for experiential center courses are appointed to the Field Work Supervisor title. The selected candidate will have significant teaching responsibilities, including preparation of course materials (such as the syllabus) and maintenance of a course website, as well as holding office hours, assessing and providing feedback on student work, assigning grades, and advising students.

Instructors are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by the American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.

We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching.
