Job Overview

Olsen Thielen & Co., Ltd., a well-established firm with over a century of experience, is seeking a qualified Senior Tax Associate to enhance our tax services. This role is ideal for professionals looking to leverage their expertise in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare moderately complex personal and corporate tax filings while demonstrating the capability to handle intricate tax situations. Identify, anticipate, and address tax-related challenges; provide informed recommendations.
  2. Generate amended tax returns, personal tax forecasts, property tax reimbursements, employee benefit plan filings, and payroll returns.
  3. Develop skills to review fundamental tax returns effectively.
  4. Conduct basic tax research and support specialized tax initiatives.
  5. Exhibit proficiency in various tax software and programs (CCH, Engagement, BNA, RIA, etc.).
  6. Guide junior staff in their tasks.
  7. Begin to establish a referral network and remain attentive to promoting the firm's services.
  8. Take on specific assignments to cultivate in-charge responsibilities.
  9. Review tax information provided by clients, ensuring confidentiality and addressing inquiries as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

Tax professionals should be knowledgeable about IRS Circular 230 Regulations and the AICPA Professional Code of Conduct. Each employee is responsible for staying informed about and adhering to Olsen Thielen's ethical standards, independence guidelines, and quality control measures.

Qualifications:

  1. CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA completion is preferred.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in tax preparation.
  3. Strong understanding of tax preparation, research, planning, and comprehensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  4. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
