Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Principal Microgrid Controls and Automation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Power Delivery Services Team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing microgrid and renewable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement microgrid and renewable energy systems, including islanding operation, grid-connected operation, energy management, control strategies, and power flow management.
- Develop and maintain control systems and automation technologies, such as SCADA systems, energy management systems, Intelligent Electronic Devices, Human Machine Interfaces, and Remote Terminal Units.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of microgrid and renewable energy systems.
- Perform planning and engineering in support of telecommunication systems and telecommunication projects.
- Establish project schedules and budgets.
- Develop drawings and specifications for utility telecommunication system projects.
- Coordinate with other internal engineering departments, external contractors, and utility construction crews.
- Travel to project sites to collect information on existing conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in microgrid and renewable energy systems, including design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of control systems and automation technologies, including SCADA systems, energy management systems, Intelligent Electronic Devices, Human Machine Interfaces, and Remote Terminal Units.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Capability to learn a variety of client software packages and databases as required.
- Fundamentals of Engineering certification.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
