This position will primarily be based on-site, with occasional visits to the office for training sessions, meetings, and other necessary engagements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a safety resource for project teams within the Business Unit, promoting the successful implementation of the Gilbane Cares safety culture.
  • Support business development efforts by responding to client safety pre-qualifications and presentations.
  • Develop and disseminate project-specific safety plans for new projects based on safety assessments.
  • Utilize SafetyNet to audit and monitor project team adherence to safety plans.
  • Conduct a minimum of six SafetyNet inspections monthly, with at least 100 observations per inspection.
  • Coach and mentor project teams in effective hazard identification and issue resolution.
  • Analyze SafetyNet reports and share insights with project teams.
  • Ensure timely closure of open SafetyNet items.
  • Assist teams in formulating corrective action plans.
  • Identify and provide relevant training within the division.
  • Ensure all incidents are investigated, documented, and resolved according to company policy.
  • Analyze safety indicators and advise leadership on focus areas and trends.
  • Participate in peer group meetings as directed.
  • Develop professional safety relationships internally and externally.
  • Provide mentorship for Project Safety Managers.
  • Assist with internal safety awards and initiatives.
Qualifications

Experience/Education:

  • Associate Safety Professional certification.
  • College-level coursework in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of construction safety principles, regulations, and practices.
  • Ability to identify potential safety exposures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certified instructor by GU and OSHA for safety training.
  • Capability to plan and manage a safety program within a division.
