The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Regional Philanthropy Officer for Individual Contributions to support the Massachusetts Region. This role is a hybrid position involving both office and remote work, with the requirement to meet with donors in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the local fundraising team to devise and implement ongoing regional strategies for qualifying donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions, and recapture from previous donors. Work in conjunction with other departments and fundraising staff to create tailored solicitation strategies that align with the organization's objectives and the interests of the donor/prospect.
  • Engage with assigned donor portfolios through face-to-face visits and virtual meetings, including the preparation of personalized materials.
  • Achieve personal annual revenue targets by managing an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Develop a program/activity to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $5,000 level or higher, focusing on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross.
  • Maintain donor records within our database management tool. (Salesforce)
  • Assist donors in finding meaning in their lives through contributions to the American Red Cross.
  • This position involves a combination of remote work, in-person meetings with donors, and occasional team meetings in the local office.
  • Participate in disaster relief fundraising initiatives as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with a minimum of five years of sales and/or fundraising experience. A combination of education and general experience that meets the minimum requirements is acceptable.
  • Proven experience in developing strategies for donor retention, growth, and recapture, along with a track record of success with complex requests, is required.
  • A current valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.
  • Ability to relate well and work effectively with diverse constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. Familiarity with office systems, including MS Office, and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge) is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while ensuring the highest level of customer service is critical.
  • Travel: Frequent travel within the Region is necessary.
