Position: Clinical Dietitian - Inpatient Care

Location: Dedham, MA

As a prominent provider in the specialty healthcare sector, we focus on delivering comprehensive care for individuals facing various eating disorders. The Clinical Dietitian in our inpatient program plays a vital role in delivering nutritional assessments and meal planning under the guidance of the Director of Clinical Nutrition Services. This role encompasses responsibilities for both adult and adolescent patients within our inpatient setting, with the flexibility to assist in the residential program as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough nutrition assessments for newly admitted patients within 48 hours of their admission
  • Perform follow-up nutrition assessments twice a week
  • Develop tailored meal plans that align with the identified nutritional goals and the core values of our organization
  • Engage with patients and their support systems to encourage adherence to meal plans
  • Facilitate individual and group nutritional therapy sessions
  • Contribute to treatment team discussions, discharge planning, and coordination of care
  • Deliver educational resources to families and caregivers
  • Maintain ongoing communication regarding patient progress and treatment plans with all stakeholders involved in the patient's care
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
Experience:
  • Prior experience in providing nutritional care within an Eating Disorder Program or Mental Health setting is preferred
  • Experience with menu planning and therapeutic diets in a healthcare environment is essential
Licensure/Certification:
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Licensed Dietitian in the state of Massachusetts
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Expertise in medical nutrition therapy
  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
  • Understanding of the nutrition care process
  • Proficiency in nutrition counseling and group education
  • Knowledge of therapeutic modalities such as Family-Based Therapy (FBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Required Competencies:
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Attention to detail with the capacity to prioritize tasks independently
  • Adept at multitasking in a dynamic mental health environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Supervision:
  • Regular group and individual supervision sessions with the Director of Clinical Nutrition and senior nutrition staff
