About the Role

This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary range of $20.88 - $30.02 per hour (Hiring Range), with opportunities for advancement and professional growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing beginning-level patient testing and administrative tasks in support of clinical activities in the UNC Healthcare System. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science, and must be ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and receive BOC within a year.

You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure seamless operations in the laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct patients in preparing for tests that require fasting and answer their questions regarding the tests.
  • Maintain equipment and investigate problems with equipment.
  • Assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees.
  • Monitor daily operation of the laboratory section or work area.
  • Participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.
  • Perform a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare specimens, resolve specimen problems, and perform analytical tests.
  • Record results of tests and maintain records.
