Position Overview:

This role serves as an introductory position within the Food Safety and Quality Assurance sector. The individual will gather technical data regarding ingredients, products, and packaging. Analytical evaluations will be performed to ensure that incoming materials, in-process products, and final products comply with food safety and quality regulations. Effective communication with Production Team Members, Production Leadership, and FSQA Leadership is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with safety protocols and encourage safety practices among colleagues.
  • Advocate for Food Safety and Quality Standards.
  • Promote Human Safety, Food Safety, and High-Quality Standards across the organization.
  • Document food safety and quality concerns accurately and relay them promptly to the FSQA Supervisor, Production Supervisor, or FSQA Manager.
  • Conduct inspections during production and after sanitation to ensure adherence to established standards, including but not limited to Identity Preserved products such as Kosher, Organic, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Project Verified, and Halal.
  • Audit production and packaging processes, documenting compliance information.
  • Collect and evaluate ingredient and product samples to ensure they meet analytical, physical, chemical, and sensory specifications.
  • Audit metal detection and weight control systems.
  • Record data related to finished goods and work-in-progress.
  • Identify out-of-specification results and communicate them to production teams promptly.
  • Place non-conforming products on hold and complete necessary documentation.
  • Responsible for reporting issues related to food safety, employee safety, and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

New hires entering directly into the Level I Technician role are expected to complete the Food Safety Professional Certification, Track 1 training within six months of commencing their position.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English is necessary. Vocational training in Quality Systems is preferred. Experience in Food Manufacturing or Quality Assurance is advantageous.
