Special Education Professional

As a Special Education Teacher at Spurwink Services, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of students with diverse needs. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing individualized learning plans, fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver educational programs tailored to meet the unique needs of students with emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement behavioral support plans, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Supervise educational technicians and provide guidance on instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss student progress, share best practices, and address any challenges that may arise.
Requirements:
- Maine State certification as a Teacher of Exceptional Students (282) or Teacher of Students with Severe Intellectual and Associated Impairments (286), or eligibility for conditional certification as a special education teacher.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a focus on student-centered practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
