POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Licensed Physical Therapist, you will deliver comprehensive physical therapy services to a diverse patient population, facilitating their journey towards optimal physical independence. Your role will encompass conducting thorough evaluations, applying various modalities, and implementing treatment plans aimed at restoring functionality, alleviating discomfort, and preventing further disability due to illness or injury. You will cater to patients across all age demographics, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Additionally, you will oversee the care provided by physical therapist assistants and may be tasked with training and mentoring assigned staff.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program, holding a BS, MS, or DPT degree. Continuous education units (CEUs) must be maintained as mandated by state regulations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

No prior experience is necessary.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:

A valid Georgia Physical Therapist License or current compact privileges in Georgia is required. BLS certification through the American Heart Association is also mandatory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in a similar role is preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-quality physical therapy services to patients of all ages, ensuring the highest standards of care and functional restoration.

a. Maintain comprehensive patient records, including evaluations, care plans, and progress notes, ensuring accurate documentation of patient responses and educational efforts. Utilize objective data and clear language in all records.

b. Provide direct patient care, employing appropriate modalities and techniques tailored to the needs of pediatric to geriatric patients. Exhibit proficiency and precision in conducting tests and measurements as required.

  • Assist in evaluating quality and outcomes of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation team members to establish a cohesive plan of action for each patient, including therapeutic adjustments and discharge planning.
  • Maintain open and supportive communication with patients and relevant parties regarding progress, challenges, home exercise programs, and other aspects of the therapeutic process.
  • Delegate treatment programs and responsibilities to support staff in accordance with their skill and competency levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Possess strong instructional capabilities and knowledge of educational methodologies. Demonstrate leadership qualities and critical thinking skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and physicians.

Must exhibit emotional resilience to manage various stressful situations, including emergency responses to patient incidents. Requires tact, discretion, and diplomacy to work effectively with others.

Ability to evaluate and interpret information independently and make informed decisions.

Must possess sensory skills to identify clinical signs and symptoms, along with appropriate interpersonal and organizational abilities.

Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language is required.

Must be capable of organizing tasks, delegating effectively, and supervising the work of assistants, technicians, and other healthcare personnel.
