Job Summary:

The Plastic Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion machines to produce custom thermoplastic sheet. This role requires strong mechanical skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality products meet customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures.
  • Examine and measure materials to verify conformance to standards.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure maximum and accurate output.
  • Perform start-up, set-up, production, and clean-up tasks.
  • Review process books and specifications to determine appropriate materials and procedures.
  • Operate a fork truck to set up machines and prepare finished goods for shipping.
  • Record and maintain production data.
  • Notify supervisors when operation fails to meet production and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong math skills for calculating ratios, percentages, and measurements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
