Overview


The Security Operations Specialist is responsible for executing a range of assigned duties, including fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols, while maintaining keen situational awareness and making informed decisions in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.

This role may involve working in challenging conditions for extended periods, including inclement weather, while performing essential security functions such as walking, standing, searching, and surveillance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Keep management informed of any unusual incidents and significant occurrences as outlined in the established protocols.
  • Monitor alarms, radio communications, and other relevant information sources; dispatch or notify others as required.
  • Respond to and manage fire alarms, burglary alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal activities, including vandalism, theft, unauthorized entry, suspicious behavior, and threats.
  • Conduct screenings and inspections of vehicles and individuals entering or exiting the premises as per established guidelines.
  • Prevent the entry or exit of prohibited items onto or from the facility.
  • Escort individuals or vehicles in accordance with established procedures.
  • Utilize communication devices effectively and in line with established protocols.
  • Monitor all equipment to prevent loss or damage; report any incidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • Log authorized property movements as required.
  • Ensure the security of government property and report any unauthorized removal.
  • Conduct regular inspections and patrols of buildings and facilities.
  • Issue vehicle passes to authorized personnel.
  • Monitor electronic access controls and report any violations.
  • Respond to alarms indicating unauthorized removal of property.
  • Grant access to restricted areas during non-working hours to authorized personnel following established procedures.
  • Monitor facility systems and report any deficiencies.
  • Perform random surveillance of the premises to detect unauthorized activities.
  • Provide additional security support for scheduled events or emergencies as directed.
  • Maintain accurate logs and administrative documents as required.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement as necessary, protect evidence, and testify in legal proceedings if required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Access to specific government facilities is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
a.

At least 2 years of experience in security or law enforcement, or equivalent military experience.

b.

One year of experience demonstrating the ability to follow instructions and meet attendance requirements.


Language:
Must be fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Pre-Hire Screening:
Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and physical examination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
  • Experience with the Glock platform is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.

Preference will be given to qualified Ahtna Native Corporation Shareholders, Descendants, and Spouses in all employment phases.

Work Environment


This position may require extensive sitting, monitoring, walking in various weather conditions, and physical inspections of vehicles or containers.

  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and handling objects; occasional lifting of weights between 10 to 100 pounds may be required.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Schedule

Rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by operational needs.
