Position Objective:

This role is essential for ensuring the protection, safety, and security of assets, staff, patients, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secures facilities and personnel by conducting regular patrols of both the interior and exterior of the premises; monitoring surveillance systems; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; and controlling entry.
  • Exhibits advanced interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, medical personnel, staff, and management.
  • Conducts comprehensive security and safety assessments.
  • Prepares daily reports and documentation, including security inventory and condition of equipment.
  • Investigates incidents and prepares detailed reports regarding losses, occurrences, lost items, and breaches of policies.
  • Responds to internal emergencies, including fires and other critical situations.
  • Enforces established policies and procedures while utilizing sound judgment.
  • Acts as a liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services in relation to security matters.
  • Identifies and addresses security and safety issues effectively.
  • Provides training on security and safety protocols to staff and others as required.
  • Adheres to federal, state, and local regulations while exercising discretion in carrying out duties.
  • Supports the Facilities Management department to ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Operates facility utilities in the absence of Facilities Management staff and is knowledgeable about emergency procedures.
  • Completes recurring tasks assigned by Facilities Management.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Training in de-escalation techniques required within 90 days of employment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with standard security and safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and communication purposes.
  • Ability to operate surveillance equipment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as assigned.
  • Capability to manage and de-escalate challenging situations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in private security or law enforcement.
  • Experience in healthcare security settings.

Additional Certifications:

  • Arizona security officer card.
  • Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Security as a Certified Healthcare Security Officer.

Expected duties may involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

  • Possible exposure to hazardous materials: Asbestos, Formaldehyde, Ethylene oxide, Mercury.

Potential exposure to hostile individuals:
Risk of violence.

Work Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for 60% to 70% of the time; must be able to sit for 30% to 40% of the time; must be able to run.
  • Must be able to distinguish phone rings and callers' voices amidst background noise.
  • Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, climbs, and descends ramps, stairs, and ladders as part of daily responsibilities.
