Job Title: Senior GIS Specialist and Engineer

Lynker Corporation is a leading provider of innovative solutions in weather and climate science. We are seeking a talented Senior GIS Specialist and Engineer to support a long-term contract with NOAA.

Job Summary

The Senior GIS Specialist and Engineer will be responsible for performing GIS system capabilities analysis, installing, testing, and validating operational automation and communications software. This role will also involve developing, planning, and implementing complex GIS applications software, presenting GIS system and cartographic mapping elements, and coordinating and executing major data integration and data analysis projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform GIS system capabilities analysis, installs, tests, and validates operational automation and communications software as specified by installation standards, manufacturer's guidance, and licensing terms.
  • Develop, plan, and implement complex GIS applications software for the system users and operators.
  • Present GIS system and cartographic mapping elements.
  • Coordinate and execute major data integration and data analysis projects facilitating in-house software products and Geographical Information Systems.
  • Integrate GIS elements with other technology for marketing and web-based communication.
  • Respond to difficult inquiries from end-users, developers, contractors, and other customers regarding GIS requirements.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure the GIS software development and integration accuracy of GIS information is maintained.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of software engineering including GIS and a demonstrated ability to independently work on complex assignments.
  • Ensure use of defined standards and processes that include formal documentation and code reviews for GIS software development.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science
  • 8+ years of experience in GIS software development and integration
