The Database Administrator plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and security of databases within the State Health Analytics and Reporting Platform (SHARP) for IDDI Expansion in the AWS GovCloud environment.
This position works closely with the IDDI agile data engineering team to deliver curated data to downstream reporting and analytics consumers in a timely manner.
The Database Administrator is responsible for enforcing organizational policies and standards related to data classification, data management, and data security.
This role will also provide backup systems administration support for other tools within the SHARP platform.
Essential Job Functions:- Attend work on a regular and predictable schedule and perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, apply security patches, and support integration with other ETL/Analytics tools.
- Perform user provisioning and access management using the Principle of Least Privilege principle, monitoring the health of the databases, logging, and auditing to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
- Participate in agile data engineering development and support the team with the database design and implementation based on data pipeline requirements.
- Perform as a backup administrator for other applications (non-database) that are part of the platform.
- Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to data management.
- Perform timely resolution of incidents reported in production and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Participate in meetings, report performance metrics, and support project management activities, including but not limited to timekeeping, status reporting, and presentations.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking, infrastructure, storage, and database services.
- Experience in administration of databases such as SQL Server, Snowflake, and Oracle.
- Experience in database modeling specifically for the analytical workload.
- Experience automating routine work in a CI/CD environment.
- Experience in integrating databases with tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Data Quality, Tableau, and SAS Viya.
- Experience with Kubernetes would be helpful.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effectively manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize conflicting assignments, and switch quickly between tasks, as required.

Initial Selection Criteria:- 8 years of Database Administrator (DBA) experience.
- Experience with AWS or Azure or similar.
- Experience automating work in a CI/CD environment preferred.
- 1 year experience with Kubernetes preferred.
- Experience on Oracle and SQL Server preferred.
- 1 year DBA experience with Snowflake is preferred.
