Job Summary

The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) plays a vital role in our interdisciplinary patient care team, supporting patients with activities of daily living and performing patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with unit leadership to coordinate day-to-day activities of the patient care unit, including processing patient records and communicating with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel.
  2. Support patients with activities of daily living and perform patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
  3. Maintain and demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability of delegated tasks, and support department operational needs.
  4. Report to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role.
  • Successful completion of KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role.
  • Certification in CPR/BLS.
  • One of the following: six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility, completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months, nursing student or listed as pre-nursing as shown on transcripts, or current employee with Kettering Health.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and function in a high-stress environment.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to comprehend and complete delegated tasks.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 6am-2:30pm, full-time, 8 hours/day shift.
