Position Overview:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Risk Assessment Testing Analyst within the Independent Testing & Validation (IT&V) team, which is a vital component of Corporate Risk. This team is dedicated to establishing methodologies and standards for comprehensive review activities across the organization, ensuring alignment with the Risk Management Framework. The role focuses on the effective testing, validation, and documentation of review activities pertaining to risk programs, controls, and applicable policies.

The Regulatory Reporting Incremental Compliance (RRIC) unit operates as a centralized second line of defense, overseeing the regulatory and risk report production processes that adhere to BCBS 239 requirements. This team plays a crucial role in the Company’s control environment, providing credible challenges to participants involved in reporting processes. RRIC collaborates extensively with various stakeholders, including internal audit, to maintain compliance and enhance reporting integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the development and design of methodologies and standards for review activities across the organization, ensuring alignment with the risk management framework.
  • Conduct effective testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs and controls, adhering to established standards and policies.
  • Support the implementation of initiatives with low to moderate risk, utilizing independent judgment to guide risk reporting and resolution.
  • Provide recommendations for addressing complex situations while developing expertise in the risk management framework.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and management to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Execute substantive testing, including end-to-end transaction and non-transaction testing of regulatory and risk reports under supervision.
  • Document test results and escalate exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Offer credible challenges to First Line Units as necessary.
  • Act as a catalyst for continuous improvement within the control environment.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player, skilled in navigating complex organizational structures and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve results. Experience in preparing or reviewing regulatory returns is highly valued.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Independent Testing or a related field, demonstrated through work experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in regulatory reporting and risk management, including compliance and internal audit.
  • Direct experience in regulatory reporting and testing.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry, particularly in compliance and risk management.
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting.
  • Experience with a major public accounting firm.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as an MBA or CPA are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements from entities like the Federal Reserve and SEC.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on significant responsibilities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in supporting regulatory examinations and audits.
  • Strong critical thinking and relationship management skills.
