Job Summary

Oversees the processing of registrations to ensure compliance with applicable public health laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs advanced technical review and evaluation of new, renewal, and amendment applications to produce certificates of registration for industrial x-ray and laser facilities and service providers.
  • Reviews and evaluates accelerator shielding adequacy.
  • Performs detailed technical review and approves facility policies, operating, emergency, and safety procedures and personnel qualifications to ensure safe operation of x-ray and laser devices.
  • Prepares and approves correspondence and technical reports.
  • Provides oversight and technical guidance to members of the industrial x-ray and laser registration program.
  • Provides highly technical information to applicants, the regulated community, and the public concerning industrial x-ray and laser registration policies and procedures, and radiological health requirements.
  • Provides guidance and interpretation of state and federal regulations and procedures.
  • Plans, develops, and establishes goals, policies, and procedures, and regulatory guidance for the industrial x-ray and laser registration program.
  • Participates in the formation and revision of registration policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and comments on proposed radiation control regulations and regulatory guides.
  • Participates as a leader or team member of various projects when requested.
  • Actively participates or serves in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Essential Job Functions
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy.
  • Performs independent review of industrial x-ray, laser, and service company registration applications.
  • Evaluates and approves detailed technical facility policies, operating and safety procedures.
  • Determines when additional information is necessary and corresponds with the registrant to obtain information and clarification.
  • Prepares and approves correspondences and certificate of registration documents.
  • Approves applications and updates information in the Versa database.
  • Uploads all reviewed and approved application documents into OnBase.
Requirements
  • Uses various computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Adobe Pro.
  • Provides leadership and technical guidance to the industrial x-ray and laser registration program.
  • Evaluates work distribution and efficiency of staff.
  • Develops methods for increasing efficiency, in accordance with set tasks and standards.
  • Performs quality assurance review of work completed by members of the industrial x-ray and laser registration program.
