Job Overview

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart is in search of a committed and personable part-time culinary service professional to enhance our kitchen operations. This position entails supporting food preparation, serving meals, and ensuring cleanliness and organization within the kitchen and dining areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate diligence, readiness, and the ability to follow the guidance of the Executive Chef/Director of Food Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve meals to students, faculty, staff, and guests in a polite and efficient manner, while consistently adhering to food safety, handling, and sanitation protocols, including during special events.
  • Ensure that all food service areas, such as the kitchen and dining spaces, are maintained in a clean and sanitized condition.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations to uphold a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Prepare and dismantle serving areas before and after meal times.
  • Execute dishwashing duties to properly clean, sanitize, and store all kitchenware, including dishes, utensils, and cookware, while operating dishwashing machines as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Follow the directives of the Executive Chef/Director of Food Service to complete assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain a friendly and positive demeanor while engaging with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a food service or kitchen environment is preferred.
  • ANSI certification for approved food handler training courses is advantageous.
  • Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a welcoming attitude.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying work hours, including early mornings, daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to participate in training and adhere to the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and noise.
  • Must be able to work onsite each workday.
