Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Weld Quality Manager to join our team at NSC Technologies in Kingstown, RI.

The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of assembly and erection of steel and aluminum hull vessels and be a certified weld instructor (CWI).

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the quality of welds and weld preparation in accordance with company standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth production and meet deadlines.
  • Enforce all safety procedures and guidelines, and comply with all company issued policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Train and develop subordinates to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper manpower levels as needed to support schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate with QC Department for quality issues and inspections.
  • Coordinate with Fabrication shop on units and parts being moved into the assembly stages.
  • Reviews production schedules in detail and works with Planning and Scheduling to maintain delivery dates as required.
  • Coordinates with Maintenance and Facilities on any related issues.
  • Follows attendance and enforces progressive discipline for employees with attendance or performance problems.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years' experience in assembly and erection of various sub-assemblies, outfitting, and pre-erection stages.
  • Must be familiar with the installation of all outfitting items required.
  • Must be capable of reading and understanding of shipyard construction and work package assembly drawings.
  • Must be familiar with the techniques used in the proper alignment of components of sub-assemblies.
  • Must have basic knowledge of acceptable welds and weld preparation.
  • Must have excellent work ethic including excellent attendance, punctuality, and the desire to complete designated work in a timely fashion.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and be computer literate.
Working Conditions

The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to respirator, hardhat, face shield, safety goggles, safety shoes (steel toe), safety harness, gloves or other protective clothing as determined by customer Job Hazard Analysis.

The employee must report all accidents or injuries to their supervisor and the Environmental Safety and Health Department.

The employee must report to the Assembly Shop Manager any and all damages to equipment, or broken and misused tools.

The employee needs to work at a pace consistent with meeting company deadlines.
