Job Title: Birth Tissue Coordinator

DCI Donor Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Birth Tissue Coordinator. In this role, you will play a critical part in saving lives through organ and tissue donation.

Job Summary:

The Birth Tissue Coordinator will be responsible for obtaining authorization from new mothers to recover donated placenta after cesarean delivery. This involves coordinating with hospitals and birthing centers, providing education on the benefits of birth tissue donation, and ensuring the safe and efficient recovery of donated tissue.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Correspond with hospitals and birthing centers to coordinate birth tissue recovery initiatives
  • Travel to assigned facilities to provide recovery and education support
  • Initiate donation discussions with new mothers prior to delivery
  • Provide education on the benefits of birth tissue donation
  • Coordinate the donation process, including obtaining informed consent and completing the Donor Risk Assessment Interview
  • Acquire donated birth tissue using proper aseptic techniques and personal protective equipment
  • Enter timely and accurate medical records in electronic database
  • Collaborate with nurses, obstetricians, and other medical personnel
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Two years of tissue banking or related experience or surgical operating room experience
  • AATB Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) and/or EBAA Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT), ORT preferred
  • LPN or CNA highly desired
