Biosecurity Officer

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biosecurity Officer to join our team. As a key member of our regulatory services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to horticulture producers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote cooperation and trust in the Primary Production and Processing Standards.
- Provide authoritative information and advice on food safety risk assessment and management, and verification requirements.
- Assist in confirming that existing food safety arrangements meet the requirements of the Standards.
- Monitor regulated horticulture entities to ensure compliance with the Standards, including conducting audits and leading investigations into breaches of regulations.
- Respond to biosecurity incidents and other agricultural emergencies as required.
- Tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Science, or an equivalent science qualification.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in horticulture and/or primary production and processing food safety.
- Current Drivers Licence for a motor vehicle.
