Data Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Metronome LLC. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful acquisition and management of mission-critical and mission support data sets.
You will work closely with our team of experts to design and implement data solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients in the military space. Your expertise in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles will be invaluable as we work to provide our clients with the highest quality data solutions possible.
The successful candidate will have experience working with large and complex data sets, as well as proficiency with programming languages such as Python and Java. You will also have experience with data extraction, translation, and loading, including data prep and labeling to enable data analytics.
As a hybrid role, this position will require some on-site work, but you will also have some flexibility to work remotely. You will be part of a dynamic team of professionals who are passionate about their work and committed to delivering exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement data solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients in the military space
- Work closely with our team of experts to ensure the successful acquisition and management of mission-critical and mission support data sets
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and analytics systems
- Collaborate with our engineers to build and optimize our data pipeline and analytics systems
- Ensure the highest quality data solutions possible
Requirements:
- Experience working with large and complex data sets
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python and Java
- Experience with data extraction, translation, and loading, including data prep and labeling to enable data analytics
- Experience with Kibana and Elasticsearch
- Familiarity with various log formats such as JSON, XML, and others
- Experience with data flow, management, and storage solutions (i.e. Kafka, NiFi, and AWS S3 and SQS solutions)
- Ability to decompose technical problems and troubleshoot system and dataflow issues
- Strong experience with ETL, data modeling, and schema design
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule with the local team members
- Experience with NOSQL databases such as Accumulo desired
