About the Role

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will play a pivotal role in driving value to customers and suppliers while eliminating non-value added activities at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. This opportunity will involve creating a lean culture, establishing a one best way in our Supply Chain Operations, and maximizing cost opportunities through internal and external benchmarking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Process Improvement initiatives on critical issues using lean/six sigma tools such as 5S, root cause analysis, time and motion studies across our warehouse and transportation network.
  • Assist with the tactical deployment of the CI program methodology and manage project execution of top losses in the functional areas.
  • Develop and implement new or improved supply chain processes and systems.
  • Work with the data science team to map, establish and track key process metrics, providing automated visibility to leaders across our network.
  • Conduct Value Stream Mapping Workshops to identify critical losses in current processes and/or define new ways of working to achieve on-time and in-full deliveries to our customers.
  • Develop change management tools and organizational assessments to promote new platform/technology adoption.
  • Ensure improvements are sustained through time and deploy best practices across the network.
  • Support development opportunities for the divisions by delivering best-in-class training, mentoring, tracking skills development, providing recognition, and ensuring diversity awareness.
  • Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs, identifying and communicating goals and objectives, building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results, identifying and addressing improvement opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ME, IE, other) or Operations Management and 3 years' experience in Process Improvement.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification is required – Green belt required/Black belt preferred.
  • Process Improvement experience in a Total Performance Management (or related program).
  • Demonstrated project ownership resulting in sustainable, long-term savings.
  • Experience in CPG or distribution industry is strongly preferred.
  • Process or Value Stream Simulation knowledge is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, analytical skills.
  • Travel: Approximately 50%.

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine.
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 50lbs.
