Job Summary

Central Garden & Pet Company is seeking a highly skilled Continuous Improvement Manager to support the Supply Chain Cost & Simplicity strategy in alignment with the Business Unit strategy. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Procurement within the CLS Business Unit and provides leadership bandwidth for key initiatives based on the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the Supply Chain Simplification Strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team to develop and implement various improvement projects for quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Work with 3rd party co-manufacturers to drive process improvements and optimize supply chain operations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Net Productivity plans and project management to deliver Net Pro outcome for 3rd party supply chain products.
  • Engage with Research and Development and Engineering to develop new Products/Innovation projects at 3rd party manufacturers.
  • Liaise between Dallas and Council Bluffs on total supply chain learnings, including manufacturing, logistics, scheduling, and warehouse.
  • Evaluate and design measures to streamline the supply chain with an orientation to improve fill rates, piece quality, drive cost reduction, and improve total cost of quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Process or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5-7 years' experience in manufacturing related to Continuous Improvement.
  • Supply Chain or 3rd party supplier knowledge, interest a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance those as needed.
  • Experience effectively managing multiple projects from cradle to grave.
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and motivate teams to meet business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Financial business acumen.
  • LEAN and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • SAP experience required.
