Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Anesthesia Provider to join our team at Children's National Medical Center. As a key member of our cardiac anesthesia care team, you will work under the direction of licensed anesthesiologists to implement anesthesia care plans for patients with congenital heart disease.

Responsibilities

  1. Collect preoperative data and perform physical examinations to ensure accurate patient assessment.
  2. Manage supportive therapy, including intravenous fluids and blood products, to maintain patient stability.
  3. Administer cardiovascular drugs as supportive therapy to optimize patient outcomes.
  4. Make anesthetic adjustments using intraoperative monitoring modalities to ensure safe and effective anesthesia care.
  5. Provide a safe transition from the operating room to the recovery area, ensuring seamless patient care.
  6. Perform functions in postoperative pain assessment and management to optimize patient comfort.
  7. Participate in administrative affairs, research, and clinical instruction to enhance professional growth and development.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant School.
  3. Passing the Certifying Examination for Anesthesiologist Assistants or current recertification exam.
  4. Completion of an approved nurse anesthesia graduate program with 24-36 months of coursework and a minimum of 800 hours of clinical experience.
  5. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Nursing Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) degree.
  6. Passing a national certification examination given by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  7. Three years of experience as an Anesthesiologist Assistant or Nurse Anesthetist.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 30 days.
  2. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification upon hire.
