Job Summary

Contec Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior R&D Packaging Engineer to lead the creation and implementation of novel packaging solutions for our diverse business units. As a key member of our packaging team, you will be responsible for leading the planning and evaluation of new packaging designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and developing and maintaining partnerships with external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Packaging Equipment Design: Develop and implement innovative packaging equipment designs for various markets, including pharmaceutical, medical, aerospace, and automotive.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with internal stakeholders to develop new packaging designs, addressing technical challenges and ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Develop and Lead Verification and Validation Activities: Conduct testing, validation, and documentation to ensure packaging designs meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare and Present Technical Reports: Create and present technical reports to internal and external customers, including milestones, projections, ROI, and cost analysis.
  • Develop and Maintain Partnerships: Foster relationships with external suppliers, development partners, and other stakeholders to drive packaging innovation.
  • Analyze Engineering Drawings and Specifications: Evaluate product engineering drawings and specifications to determine physical properties, special-handling requirements, and material types.
  • Develop and Preserve Intellectual Property: Write reports, create drawings, specifications, and validations to preserve intellectual property and process knowledge for Contec products.
  • Generate Documentation: Develop documentation needed for ISO/EPA/FDA compliance, including OQ, PQ, PDR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Regulatory Requirements: Develop knowledge of industry standards, including ISO, REACH, WHMIS, GHS, and other relevant regulations.
  • Participate in Quality Standards: Collaborate with the quality team to ensure packaging designs meet ISO 9001 quality standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years' experience in packaging engineering or a related technical field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in software used for design, modeling, simulation, communication, and data analysis, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with medical packaging, flexible packaging, and bottling is a plus.
