Radiology Imaging Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech to join our team at SSM Health. As a Radiology Tech, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.
Responsibilities:
- Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provides appropriate educational material.
- Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures.
- Assists technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure.
- Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Observes patients during procedures and reports abnormal activity.
- Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
- Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
Requirements:
- Completion of a radiology certification program.
- No experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
- Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
- Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Rare kneeling and sitting.
Required Professional License and/or Certifications:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire.
