Job Overview

The Coil division is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Coating Chemist. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of coating chemistry and demonstrate exceptional analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities to aid in research and development of innovative platforms and product assessments.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Exhibits foundational knowledge in the application of chemicals, raw materials, substrate preparation, and operation of laboratory instruments.
  • Conducts fundamental coating formulations and physical/performance evaluations.
  • Designs and implements experiments, interprets results, and provides recommendations with guidance.
  • Maintains thorough and precise documentation of laboratory activities and presents technical findings through written reports and presentations.
  • Collaborates with various departments/functions and builds a network of resources.
  • Conducts analyses, tests, and development of new or revised formulas requiring a solid understanding of chemistry, polymer characteristics, product lines, and materials; assists in establishing quality benchmarks.
  • Mentors, oversees, or acts as a lead for technicians/chemists or support staff engaged in research initiatives.
  • Performs additional tasks such as reviewing safety documents and managing material orders as needed.
  • Adheres to and demonstrates knowledge of all safety and security protocols while maintaining an organized workspace.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the applicable country without the need for sponsorship for employment work visa or permanent residency.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
  • Computer literacy for data entry, communication, and analysis.
  • Experience with various laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with the application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with coil coatings, pretreatments, and metal substrates.
  • Background in statistics and data analysis.
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green belt certification.
Travel Requirements: 10%
