Assistant Director of Nursing Services

The Assistant Director of Nursing Services plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of care is maintained in our Nursing Service Department. This position assists the Director of Nursing Services in directing the overall operation of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review care plans for residents, ensuring they align with medical and nursing treatments.
  • Implement and maintain a quality assurance program for the nursing department, monitoring QI, QM, and survey reports.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and revising the Minimum Data Set (MDS), including the implementation of Care Area Assessments (CAAs) and Triggers.
  • Review and revise care plans and assessments, ensuring all personnel involved in providing care are aware of the resident's plan.
  • Develop methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in and develop reviews of discharge plans, preparing reports for the Care Plan Committee as directed.
  • Monitor nursing care to ensure all personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Review nurses' notes to determine if care plans are being followed.
  • Determine staffing needs and work assignments for the nursing department to meet total nursing needs of residents.
  • Provide leadership training on administrative and supervisory principles for Resident Care Managers and Charge Nurses.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Participate in state and federal surveys of the facility, assisting the Administrator in reviewing deficiencies and developing plans of correction.
  • Attend continuing education programs to stay updated on changes in the profession and participate in/provide leadership for in-service training for nursing personnel.
  • Create and maintain a warm, patient, enthusiastic, and calm environment.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records and computer documentation systems.
