Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Deborah Heart and Lung Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures in various specialty sections of the Clinical Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist supervisor in providing resources to improve and optimize operational efficiency.
  • May have to perform supervisory duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Lab Tech or Medical Technologist.
  • 5-7 years of experience working as a Clinical Laboratory Tech in a moderate to high complexity testing environment.
  • Meet or exceed the regulatory CLIA testing personnel requirements.
Education and Certifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree or Associate in Science or related degree.
  • Clinical Laboratory Assistantship training in lieu of AS degree.
  • ASCP/ASMT/NCA/HHS/ASPT and other related certification preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Computer, math, verbal, reasoning, and written skills at college level.
  • Instrumentation and manual skills requiring practice to become proficient.
Work Environment

Occasional external contacts, furnishing or obtaining information only. Contacts with other departments, furnishing or obtaining information or reports, requiring tact and discretion in order to obtain cooperation.

Supervision and Hours

Part-time supervision over a small group of employees. Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor. Full-time, 80 hours per pay period.
