About the Role

This is a seasoned leadership position that requires a solid background in upscale restaurant management. As an Operations Director, you will play a key role in providing strategic direction to restaurant general managers and executive chefs. Your responsibilities will include all day-to-day operating activities, including staffing, revenue growth, expense, cost, and margin control, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goal management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible leadership to management and employees, fostering a restaurant atmosphere focused on exceptional hospitality.
  • Work within existing policies and procedures to ensure revenue and growth goals are achieved.
  • Attract, retain, and motivate associates; interview, hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, and recommend discipline and termination as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations on a timely basis; recommend promotions or corrective actions when appropriate and ensure that general managers are doing the same.
  • Supervise the implementation of best practices and provide training and mentoring. Manage the restaurant to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, and compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as Federal, state, and local regulations, while meeting or exceeding financial goals.
  • Implement company programs and manage operations to ensure compliance with SOPs, safety regulations, and Federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring an optimal level of service, quality, and hospitality are provided to guests.
  • Forecast, implement, monitor, control, and report on budgets and their components (labor costs, food costs, beverage costs, supplies, equipment, etc.) to maximize revenue and minimize expenses, ensuring adequate supplies and staff are available to provide top-quality customer service.
  • Respond to customer trends, needs, issues, comments, and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
  • Create, recommend, and implement promotions, displays, food presentations, and ideas to attract more guests and gain a larger share of the local market.
  • Monitor and control the maintenance and sanitation of all areas of the restaurant and equipment to protect assets, comply with regulations, and ensure quality service.
  • Ensure operational and training standards are consistently followed and executed.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and equivalent work-related experience is strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of full employment in a restaurant or related position.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of restaurant practices and procedures to analyze data, diagnose issues, and coach the operations team accordingly.
  • Ability to make decisions guided by established policy and procedures.
  • Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to be concise, well-organized, complete, and clear; have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to move throughout all food and beverage areas and continuously perform essential job functions.
