Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Project Engineer to join our team at Johnson, Mirmiran, and Thompson Inc. As a key member of our Highways Team, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of complex transportation projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Oversee the planning, design, and execution of highway projects, ensuring compliance with PennDOT, The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and city guidelines.
  • Design and Development: Develop construction documents, including highway and site design, geometric calculations, and utility coordination.
  • Technical Expertise: Analyze survey reports, maps, and topographical data to plan projects, perform design computations, and manage project sub-consultants.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Prepare proposals, attend meetings with clients, and coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Experience: 5-10 years' experience in specialized discipline, with proficiency in Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, and Microsoft Office.
  • Skills: Strong written and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer License: Possession of a Professional Engineer License is highly desirable.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
  • Industry Experience: Experience working with local clients at the county and state level.

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment, with occasional field work required. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking.
