Job Summary:

Anderson Dahlen is seeking a skilled Vacuum Design Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing vacuum systems, chambers, and components for various industries. Your expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing, and process engineering will be essential in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop vacuum systems, chambers, and components using 3D CAD software and other engineering tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets manufacturability capabilities, tolerance stack-up, and surface finish requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations to size components and process equipment, ensuring performance requirements such as sealing surfaces, flow rate, stress, fatigue, pressure, and vacuum are met.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, models, bills of material, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Work closely with production supervisors and shop personnel to improve designs through effective communication and coordination.
  • Stay up-to-date with research and development in manufacturing technology, including fabrication, welding, laser, finishing, and assembly.

Requirements:
  • BS Engineering degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, Process Design, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment related to vacuum equipment or vacuum processing.
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum product design and manufacturing required. Direct experience and capabilities for design and manufacture of custom components, chambers, and process systems preferred.
  • 3D CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles, ASME calculations, and FEA preferred.
  • Project management, product development, and leadership skills essential.
