Position Overview

The Fund Accounting Manager will oversee the comprehensive NAV accounting operations for our investment funds. This role involves close collaboration with the Director of Finance to facilitate middle and back-office functions, playing a crucial role within the Operations Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly NAV closing processes for the funds, including a thorough review of the fund administrator's month-end NAV documentation.
  • Conduct daily reconciliations of cash, trades, and securities against bank and broker statements.
  • Identify discrepancies and communicate with counterparties such as fund administrators, brokers, and custodians to rectify any inconsistencies.
  • Support the private investment valuation process and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Manage fund audits and assist with the preparation of fund tax returns.
  • Assist with treasury operations, including cash management and wire transfers.
  • Act as a backup for trade operations when necessary.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.
  • Support management company accounting, including accounts payable and QuickBooks financial management.
  • Enhance processes and controls by continuously seeking to reduce workflow inefficiencies.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in public or private accounting, ideally with a mix (preferably from a Big 4 firm).
  • Experience in the Asset Management sector, particularly within hedge funds.
  • Strong foundation in investment fund and GAAP accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, high ethical standards, and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet reporting deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in collaboration within a team setting as well as independently.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
  • Genuine interest in hedge funds, public/private markets, and investment strategies.
