Highgate is seeking a seasoned Engineering professional to lead our hotel's engineering division.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of our engineering team. In the absence of the Director, you will take on the administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities related to engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans to maintain property, equipment, and grounds, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Supervise and train a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their responsibilities.
  • Create and manage staff schedules, adhering to budgetary constraints and ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Participate in financial forecasting and profit/loss review meetings, providing insights and recommendations to inform business decisions.
  • Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement energy conservation programs, reducing our environmental footprint.
  • Review guest feedback to identify areas for improvement and address issues promptly, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all facilities and equipment meet ADA compliance standards.
  • Manage vendor contracts, negotiating terms and conditions to ensure fair pricing and quality service.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests for room maintenance, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist with special projects and renovations, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver results.
  • Support hotel programs and safety initiatives, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities management or a related field, or a 2-year college degree with 1 year of management experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Stationary Engineer's license if required.
  • Proven skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work long hours, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Maintain a friendly and courteous demeanor, providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
  • Maximize productivity and problem-solving skills, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of information, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Perform duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
