Highgate is seeking a seasoned Engineering professional to lead our hotel's engineering division.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of our engineering team. In the absence of the Director, you will take on the administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities related to engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans to maintain property, equipment, and grounds, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Supervise and train a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their responsibilities.
- Create and manage staff schedules, adhering to budgetary constraints and ensuring adequate coverage.
- Participate in financial forecasting and profit/loss review meetings, providing insights and recommendations to inform business decisions.
- Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement energy conservation programs, reducing our environmental footprint.
- Review guest feedback to identify areas for improvement and address issues promptly, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that all facilities and equipment meet ADA compliance standards.
- Manage vendor contracts, negotiating terms and conditions to ensure fair pricing and quality service.
- Respond promptly to guest requests for room maintenance, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
- Assist with special projects and renovations, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver results.
- Support hotel programs and safety initiatives, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in facilities management or a related field, or a 2-year college degree with 1 year of management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Stationary Engineer's license if required.
- Proven skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work long hours, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Maintain a friendly and courteous demeanor, providing exceptional customer service at all times.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
- Maximize productivity and problem-solving skills, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Ensure confidentiality of information, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
- Perform duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
