Chief Engineer Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel
The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing the engineering and maintenance operations of the entire hotel to ensure the highest standards of maintenance, safety, and guest satisfaction while ensuring the preservation of the Hotels Historic character stays intact. This includes overseeing all aspects of building infrastructure, systems and equipment, ensuring they are operating efficiently and effectively, and adhering to safety regulations, and hotel standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repair:
Oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel equipment, systems, and structures.
Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems are functioning optimally.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
Historic preservation, ensure that any maintenance or renovation work respects and preserves the Historic character of the building
2. Team Management:
Supervise, train, and manage the engineering team.
Assign tasks and monitor their completion.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development.
3. Budget Management:
Prepare and manage the engineering department's budget.
Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Assist in the procurement of materials and services.
4. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain all required safety records and documentation.
Conduct regular safety training for the engineering team and other staff as necessary.
5. Project Management:
Oversee renovation and construction projects within the hotel.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Review plans and specifications for new projects.
6. Guest Service:
Respond to guest maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
Ensure all guest-facing areas of the hotel are in excellent condition.
Work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
7. Energy Management:
Implement and maintain energy management programs to reduce costs and environmental impact.
Monitor and analyze energy consumption and implement measures to improve efficiency.
8. Emergency Response:
Develop and implement emergency response plans.
Lead the engineering team in emergency situations, such as power outages, equipment failures, or natural disasters.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred. Technical certifications and licenses in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related areas.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical along with equipment.
Understanding of Historic preservation principles and practices.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
“Hands on” Engineer with the knowledge and ability to perform maintenance and repairs in-house.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Ability to stand, walk and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including heights, confined spaces and outdoor areas.
Schedule is Tuesday thru Saturday 8am-5pm but must have the ability to work flexible hours if necessary, including nights, weekends, and Holidays if needed.
