About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Privacy and Information Security Attorney to join our Corporate Law Department at State Farm. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advising on enterprise programs related to privacy, information security, risk, and compliance.

As a Privacy and Information Security Attorney, you will provide legal advice on federal and state privacy and information security requirements, enterprise risk management, and the compliance and ethics program. You will also advise on other programs, including information retention, crisis management, AML/OFAC, and business continuity, as well as general technology-related legal matters.

This is a hybrid role, requiring significant time in the office and virtually. You will collaborate closely with peers in other legal practice groups and with business leaders throughout the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on privacy and information security requirements, enterprise risk management, and compliance and ethics programs
  • Advise on other programs, including information retention, crisis management, AML/OFAC, and business continuity
  • Collaborate with peers in other legal practice groups and with business leaders throughout the enterprise
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of federal and state privacy and information security laws and regulations
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments in privacy and information security
Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state and membership in good standing of the bar
  • Ability to obtain a limited license in IL if not already appropriately licensed in IL
  • 5+ years of experience with privacy and/or information security laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with risk and/or compliance programs
  • Familiarity with State Farm's company structure and general departments
  • Demonstrated adaptability, learning agility, and ability to excel in a collaborative environment
