FRESENIUS MEDICAL CENTER

OBJECTIVE: Upholds the mission, vision, core values, and customer service principles of FMCNA. Complies with the FMCNA Compliance Program, adhering to all regulatory and policy standards.

Assists medical professionals in executing various interventional radiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality assurance of radiological equipment in line with FMC policies, procedures, and training. Aids in the management and procurement of necessary supplies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts essential activities for patient preparation and the procedure room setup for radiology procedures, ensuring compliance with FMCNA policies and applicable regulations.
  • Reviews specific procedure orders to identify required materials and supplies.
  • Prepares and stocks the procedure room and trays with all necessary supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedures, and cleans the room and equipment post-procedure.
  • Documents necessary preparations for the patient procedure room as required.
  • Communicates the procedure details to patients, addressing their questions and concerns.
  • Assists in preparing patients for surgical procedures through positioning and prepping.
  • Facilitates patient transfers and positioning, ensuring safe transport to and from the procedure room.
  • Inputs patient information into the C-Arm system.
  • Acts as a scrub assistant, supporting the physician during interventional procedures and administering fluoroscopy to visualize blood flow in coronary arteries, maintaining sterile techniques as per established policies and regulations.
  • Adheres to HIPAA policies and standards to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Prepares intravenous medications and labels them according to the Medication Labeling Policy within the Sterile Field Competency.
  • Processes x-ray images and archives them to a CD or DVD, complying with FMCNA policies for patient medical records.
  • Delivers exceptional patient care by supporting FMCNA quality standards and engaging in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices.
  • Assists in implementing FMCNA quality objectives and facility-specific action plans to meet quality standards.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of medical records, maintaining compliance with FMCNA policies and performing regular audits.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment, ensuring all areas are well-kept daily and that equipment is in proper working order.
  • Recommends equipment replacements and repairs as necessary.
  • Assists in the disposal of hazardous waste and soiled materials.
  • Organizes and utilizes supplies and equipment efficiently to minimize waste.
  • Participates in meetings, assisting with agendas and data gathering.
  • Ensures effective communication with medical staff.
  • Engages in CQI meetings, reporting on assigned topics.
  • Collaborates with physicians and staff to ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are available.
  • Addresses physician inquiries within areas of responsibility.
  • Supports the training and orientation of new staff on equipment usage.
  • Ensures accurate and timely patient billing by reviewing procedures and verifying coding.
  • Assists with inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Serves as Radiation Safety Officer, monitoring radiation badges and conducting safety training.
  • Participates in facility regulatory and accreditation surveys, addressing identified deficiencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • The work environment resembles that of a healthcare facility, with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious materials may occur. Must be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds and performing patient transfers up to 400 pounds. Ability to stand in protective gear for extended periods is required.
  • Travel may be required.

SUPERVISION:

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Must possess ARRT Certification and be a licensed Radiology Technician as per Department of Health regulations.
  • State licensure in radiology is required.
  • Interventional Radiology certification is preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience preferred; candidates with ARRT Certifications and at least 1 year of experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with interventional equipment (including C-Arm and Ultrasound), procedures, and necessary materials/supplies.
  • Experience with special procedures utilizing a C-Arm.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective equipment for operating radiology systems.
  • Must successfully complete BLS certification.
  • Experience in inventory monitoring and management.
  • Proficient in computer usage and related software, including Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
