The City of New York is seeking a proficient Bilingual Transcription Specialist to deliver interpretation and translation services between Spanish and English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpretation and translation of both verbal and written communications between English and Spanish.
- Transcribe and translate audio recordings as needed.
- Create written translations for legal documents, personal statements, and various forms and letters.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support translation and interpretation projects.
- Assist unit staff with assigned tasks and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of experience in professional transcription and translation.
- A minimum of 23 years of professional experience in translation and interpretation.
- Strong customer service skills and knowledge of court services.
- Effective communication abilities with court personnel and judges.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in software applications such as Outlook, Excel, Adobe, MS Teams, and Zoom.
- Strong collaborative and problem-solving capabilities.
