Key Responsibilities

This role is pivotal in ensuring financial compliance and supporting our financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting internal compliance audits following established procedures.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial transactions.
  • Preparing and interpreting financial reports.
  • Participating in process enhancement initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Finance team and other departments.
What You Will Do
  • Perform financial, process, and compliance audits, including preparation of workpapers.
  • Assist external auditors with necessary year-end testing.
  • Audit energy efficiency and renewable energy incentive payments regularly to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Draft audit reports and test financial controls.
  • Review program implementation manuals annually.
  • Communicate effectively with various departments and external contractors.
  • Ensure adherence to nonprofit and grant compliance regulations.
  • Recommend improvements in financial processes and reporting.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Document workflows and maintain updated procedures.
  • Engage in departmental projects and testing as required.
  • Collaborate with peers in the Finance department to meet objectives.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of internal audit or relevant experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in software applications such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and MS Office.
  • Ability to create accurate workpapers and document business processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent customer service skills, particularly in diverse environments.
