Job Title: Analog Design Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Analog Design Lead to join our team at Apple. As a key member of our Custom Silicon Management Group, you will be responsible for driving and leading technical engagements between Apple and silicon and IP suppliers working on groundbreaking technologies.

Job Summary:

The Analog Design Lead will be responsible for defining, developing, and productizing the next generation of mobile power solutions. This includes working with multi-functional teams and external vendors to establish silicon requirements, leading efforts to develop, integrate, characterize, and test devices, and delivering first revision functional silicon and production-worthy silicon per system requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with Systems and Platform teams to establish silicon requirements
  • Lead efforts to develop, integrate, characterize, and test devices, including power regulators, chargers, backlight drivers, and boost converters
  • Deliver first revision functional silicon and production-worthy silicon per system requirements, on schedule
  • Work with external vendors to ensure innovative design practices, methodologies, and processes are in place to produce quality results
  • Ensure designs are accurately verified, validated, and tested for long-term reliability
  • Support multi-functional engineering teams for system validation and mass production approval
Requirements:
  • BS+10 years of relevant industry experience, advanced degree preferred
  • Expertise in power topologies, such as buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pumps, and LDOs
  • Deep understanding of control architectures, including current mode, voltage mode, and hysteretic mode
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, device safe-operating area (SOA), and power transistors used for high-frequency switching
  • Solid understanding of DC/DC power converter modeling techniques using tools such as MATLAB, Simplis, PSIM, or Spectre
  • Understanding of Analog IC circuit design as it relates to power conversion architecture requirements, design tools, and methodologies
