Facilities Maintenance Lead

Oversees and organizes the efforts of personnel in a multi-shift facility engaged in the upkeep and repair of buildings, machinery, equipment, and grounds through the execution of the following responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Guides staff involved in maintenance tasks, ensuring the efficient and effective completion of assigned duties. Develops and modifies work schedules to align with production needs and deadlines.
- As directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, solicits and evaluates proposals from contractors for maintenance and facility services beyond those performed by internal personnel. Monitors the performance of these services and provides necessary feedback.
- Orders tools, equipment, repair components, and supplies as needed.
- Collaborates closely with the safety coordinator to ensure that maintenance work, both by internal staff and external contractors, is conducted safely and in compliance with regulatory standards. Addresses safety concerns within the facility.
- Reviews completed work for adherence to blueprints, specifications, and industry standards. Works with the safety coordinator, facility insurers, and other agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Implements and maintains a preventive maintenance (PM) program for production machinery and various facility systems, including HVAC. This encompasses maintenance and operator PM, management of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and oversight of spare parts.
- Utilizes CMMS for the submission, execution, management, and documentation of work order activities.
- Communicates and enforces company policies among staff while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and electrical regulations.
- Enhances production by improving working conditions and equipment, analyzing and resolving operational issues, and collaborating with supervisors to meet departmental needs.
- Proposes modifications in working conditions and equipment usage to boost efficiency and longevity.
- Directly supervises maintenance personnel; carries out supervisory duties in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training staff, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, addressing grievances, and resolving issues.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety regulations, operational and maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals.
- Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Able to communicate effectively before groups of employees.
- Skills in machine shop operations, mechanical drawing, and electrical/electronic training are advantageous.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in overseeing technicians.
- Ability to train and develop technicians promptly.
- Clear and effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to manage employment actions such as performance reviews and disciplinary measures.
- Capability to safely lift, lower, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
- Associate's Degree from a two-year college or technical institution.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Experience with PLC systems.
