Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente seeks a skilled Nurse Manager-L&D to oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of our unit(s). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care is provided while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Clinical Operations: Oversee the management of the unit's day-to-day clinical operations, including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement.
  • Supervise Staff: Supervise a single unit (8 to 24 hours) of approximately employees, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Monitor Resource Allocation: Monitor the allocation and utilization of personnel based on continual changes in patient population/needs, ensuring the best level of patient care while identifying savings opportunities.
  • Ensure Quality and Safety: Monitor the quality of service and utilization standards, assuming specific responsibility for patient care at the unit level. Ensure coordinated plans of treatment, customer-focused care, and cost-effective utilization of services.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Work with healthcare providers outside of the unit to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum, researching and implementing best practice models of other units.
  • Investigate and Resolve Concerns: Investigate and resolve patient/family member concerns regarding patient care, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission standards.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion, or other related leadership experience.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire, with Basic Life Support certification also required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Evidence of Training: Evidence of training completion as a preceptor or charge nurse.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
  • Partnership Environment: Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ACLS Certification: ACLS certification strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
