About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Interior Designer to join our Design and Construction Division. As an Interior Designer, you will play a critical role in creating beautiful and functional spaces that meet the needs of our county departments.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the programming, design, and documentation of proposed furniture layouts, drawings, and related interior design tasks. You will work closely with stakeholders and end-users to identify budgetary parameters and develop design options that meet their needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging stakeholders and end-users to program requested scope of furniture requests
  • Identifying budgetary parameters and developing design options
  • Reviewing archived as-built and record drawings of existing facilities
  • Researching potential furniture products and materials
  • Collaborating with the Facilities Management architecture team and designers
  • Preparing finished presentations for review and approval
  • Assisting stakeholders and end-users in assessing and making recommendations for furniture, finishes, and equipment selections

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Two years of professional-level work experience as an Architect, Architectural Designer, Interior Designer, or Interior Design Assistant
  • Proficient in AutoDesk AutoCAD (2018 edition or higher) computer-aided design and drafting software
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or a closely related field
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

  • Bachelor's degree from a Council for Interior Design (CIDA) accredited interior design program
  • Certification in Interior Design from the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)
  • Membership in the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) or American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)
  • Design experience with Herman Miller modular furniture systems
  • Proficiency in furniture specifying software such as Project Matrix or CET Configura, Sketch-up, and Adobe Creative Suite

Working Conditions

This position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. You must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently, and sit most of the time. You must also possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire and complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) background investigation to access County detention facilities.
